  94.       The  text  files are in  WordPerfect 5.1 (*.WP),  Microsoft Works 2.0
  95.       (.TXT files,  which Works will import)  and Word/Windows  2.0 (*.DOC)
  96.       formats.   The  spreadsheet  files  are in  Lotus  1-2-3  files  v2.2
  97.       (*.WK1),  Excel 4.0 (*.XLS) and  Microsoft  Works 3.0  (*.WKS).   Any
  98.       later  versions  (as  well as  Windows versions)  and also many other   
  99.       competitive programs such as WordStar, Word, or Quattro Pro should be
  100.       able to import these files.

  102.       Laser printers are best,  but are not a  requirement  UNLESS  you are
  103.       planning  to  present  this  plan to  venture  capitalists  or  other
  104.       sophisticated investors.

  106.       A Macintosh version is also available.  It is located on  CompuServe,
  107.       Ziffnet,  America OnLine, BMUG,  BCS-Mac,  and is also available from
  108.       the Internet, several shareware vendors and direct from us.

  113.       Every business needs to have a  plan in order to  track its progress.
  114.       There is no business too small,  too large, too complex or too simple
  115.       to  avoid having a  business plan.   I  found that  many  businessmen
  116.       assume that  the usefulness of  their business  plan is over once the
  117.       business is up and running.   I have been  successful  using business
  118.       plans not only to start businesses, but as important management tools
  119.       in an going business.

  121.       This program is designed for use by any size (small, medium or large)
  122.       or type (product or service)  of business.   It also includes all the
  123.       necessary information which most lenders or investors are seeking.

  125.       I didn't write this program in an ivory tower some place,  but out of
  126.       my  own business  experiences.   For seven years,  I imported  cuckoo
  127.       clocks from  the Black  Forest of Germany,  so this  is  definitely a
  128.       "cuckoo"  program!   I  have been  involved in  many  other  business
  129.       ventures.  I'd be lying if I said I made money with all of them.  But
  130.       I can truthfully say that all were successful, mainly because I wrote
  131.       a plan and stuck to that plan.

  133.       BUSINESS PLAN MASTER  supplies you  with complete  template files.  I
  134.       give you professional formats  (footnootes,  tables of contents, some
  135.       simple graphics),  some excellent sample text and several spreadsheet
  136.       files for you to use.   Alone these  could save you many  hundreds of
  137.       hours of work.   Because  of  the wide  diversity  of businesses  and
  138.       business  ideas,  I have  tried to make  these  files as universal as
  139.       possible.  Over time, you will incorporate your own language into the
  140.       text and make modifications to the worksheets.

  151.       If you want to get started quickly, just read these few lines:

  153.         FIRST, take a look at what is here.

  155.         SECOND,  take  a look  at  the  Tutorial.   Simply  type  the  word
  156.         "Tutorial" in the directory where you have BUSINESS PLAN MASTER.

  158.         THIRD, Open the spreadsheets in your spreadsheet program.  The best
  159.         file to look at first is BPMPROF.* (Proforma Financial Statements).
  160.         I highly recommend  that you do your spreadsheet work first.   Make
  161.         sure your  business idea  is  going to  be  financially  worthwhile
  162.         before trying to write the text portion.

  164.         FOURTH,  Get into your word processing  program.   Open  one of the
  165.         BUSINESS PLAN MASTER files,  either BIZPLN27.WP  (WordPerfect 5.1),
  166.         BIZPLN27.TXT (MS Works) or BIZPLN27.DOC (Microsoft Word).   This is
  167.         the main  BUSINESS PLAN MASTER file which will contain the text you
  168.         will use.
